Until recently I was using StarOffice 5.2 for writing documents in French. I found a particularly useful macro at this web site that made it easy to insert the accents. Unfortunately with OpenOffice the API had changed so the macro didn't work.
I have modified the macro to work with OpenOffice and a copy is attached below.
